LAX and beyond...

Hey everyone,

So it has been a very long time since I last updated this page.  Yes, I think I may be getting bored with it.  But!  I will update now.  You see, I am in LAX, and have... just about 3 hours until I can check in... at the earliest.  So, I'll let you all know what I've been up to.  I finished my third year at AUC, and finished my year as an RA.  It was a really good year.  I got to know a lot of amazing guys, and had the honor of leading them as a floor.  Then the big thing is that this past week I went down to visit my girlfriend Amanda in Mexico City.  It's a pretty crazy thing to think that I just spent the last week in Mexico City.  It was so great though.  Amanda and I both wondered how we'd do, after 7 months of not seeing each other.  But it was probably the most natural thing for us to be together again.  And that is great!  So yes, it was an amazing week.  And now I'm headed to Grande Prairie to work and work and work!  Oh money, how do I loathe thee!  It would be nice if everything were free, because then we wouldn't have to pay for anything.  However, I suppose that then we wouldn't appreciate the cost of anything.  Heh, okay, I'm really tired, and am starting to ramble so I'm going to go.

Peace.

It's been a while...

Know what's frustrating?  When you update... and then your internet cuts out so you lose it.  So here we go, round 2. First Tjosie's tag.

1. I'm paranoid about the way I smell.  I'm slowly becoming less-so, but still, I worry.

2. I iron my shirts... all of them.  Well, okay, not sweatshirts, but t-shirts and all button-ups.  Again, getting better, but still do it.

3. Although I'm not normally a superstitious person, when I play hockey I am the most ritualistic, superstitious person you will ever meet.  Come watch a game and watch me.  I have a routine.

4. Speaking of routine, in the mornings I have to shower.  yes, because of the smell thing, but also because if I don't I won't really wake up and the day will be shot.

5. I don't really like chicken all that much... or pork for that matter.  Like, I don't hate it, but I'd much rather eat some cow.

6. Mmm... My girlfriend lives in Mexico City, and I'm okay with that... most of the time. Okay, that's not that wierd, but I ran out of things.  Besides, it's kind of wierd...

Okay, so what has happened over the past month or so...  well, quite a bit I suppose.  Just thinking of it all is a little difficult at the moment.  Well, right now I'm in Dawson Creek on reading break.  I just missed Josh apparently.  Like, apparently I arrived in the airport in GP and he was actually there, but was probably already through through security.  Sad day.  Let's see what else is there?  Oh, Valentine's day has come and gone.  It was kind of hard to not be able to spoil Amanda on Valentine's day.  But! I did send chocolate down with the access kids, and I did a little bit of another thing for her, that I will keep a secret... unless Amanda wants to tell, in which case, that's okay.  But yes, the Access kids are now down in Mexico city taking part in the Fusion program, which Amanda is running.  I am rather jealous and really wish that I could have gone.  But I did get to send down lots of presents with them, so that kind of makes up for it.  I miss her a lot though.  I think having nothing to do really has made me miss her that little extra bit.  Yes, I miss her.  Soon enough though, I will be able to see her again.  Soon enough.  Hmm... what else is there?  Oh, I have been reading Chasing Daylight by Erwin McMannus.  Very very good book.  It's made a big impact on me.  I would highly recommend that you all go out and buy it, and read it.  I like it a lot.  okay, I think that's it for now.

peace.

Hit the ground running...

So the new year has begun, and life just seems to be picking up the pace, while I book it to try to keep up.  Life is B-U-S-Y!!  Here's what I'm up to:  Most imporantly trying to keep the relationship with God on par.  I hate to admit it, but sometimes it gets swept under the rug if I get busy.  Then, there's my relationship with Amanda.  I have to say, she's pretty much amazing.  If you want to hear me brag about how great she is, just ask me one day about her, and what she's up to in Mexico, and I'll let you know how great she is.  Then there's the floor, and school, and hockey and Youth group.  Yes, quite busy, but good.  Mmm... I think I'm slowly becoming a crappier and crappier blogger.  Oh well.  Well, I'm going to go and get something to eat for dinner now.

Peace.

Merry Christmas!!

Merry Christmas all!  I'm in Hawaii for Christmas.  It's sweet, we went to Hanalei and went boogie boarding.  The waves were huge there! Last time I was here the waves were only like, 2ish feet.  This time they were more around 10-15.  It was intense.  There was one big one that had to be close to 20.  My brother-in-law Bryan and I were out together and we were like, "Okay, we have to catch this one!"  So we tried.  It ended up being more like the wave laughing at us and saying "Thanks for coming out.":P  It absolutely destroyed us.  Bryan says he did 4 flips, 2 backwards and 2 forwards... figure that one out.  As for me, it just tried to drown me.  I managed to hold onto my boogie board, but the wave pinned me to the ocean floor for a bit longer than I would have enjoyed.  But I survived, and it was sweet to catch some more waves.  Although, I have a pretty nasty board rash, I sould have invested in a board shirt.  Oh well.  I hope you all have a sweet Christmas and a happy new year!

Peace.

Norma Jean and Providence

So last saturday I got to go and see Norma Jean play at MacEwan Hall.  It was pretty much the best hardcore show I have ever been to.  The opening bands were solid, but just kind of average.  And then Norma Jean played.  It was glorious.  Their set was so tight.  They had smooth transitions for all their songs, there was no dead air, the vocalist didn't really blabber on like a lot of them do, they had multi-media going for some of their transitions and had it going throughout their songs.  All around, they were just amazing performers and put on an amazing show.  Know what else is pretty amazing?  When people take care of you.  You see, money has been a little on the tight side this month.  Like, I would have made it through the month, it just would have been close.  And then, I came home one day, and there was food all over.  In my fridge, in my freezer, and even in my cupboards!  They were all full!  It was such an amazing blessing that took so much stress off.  And then, on top of that, someone anonymously put a fair amount of money in my mailbox at school, so I'm even better off.  Like, the food was more than enough, and made life so much less stressful, and the extra money just completely took the stress away.  I have my suspicions as to who it was, but I'm not sure exactly.  So to whoever it was, thank you.  In other news, Amanda is still in Mexico and I am still here in Calgary.  These last few days have been pretty rough as far as that goes.  I really miss her a lot, and communication hasn't been as regular lately, which is okay, but just sad.  I miss her a lot.  But, on the plus side, God is teaching us both a lot through this and we are drawing closer, so that is good.  School is ridiculous.  I have too many term papers due in the next week.  Oh well, I will get them done, and then it will be over... until exams.  Well, I think that's about it for now.  Oh, and sorry Dallas, but I don't think I'm going to go see Killswitch.  I don't konw them well enough, and well, frankly I don't want do dish out cash for a band I don't know.  I would go and see Norma Jean again in a heartbeat though.  Oh... so good.

Peace.
